Sheba

To all the Southern Hope Staff,

I hope everyone is doing well. I just wanted to give everyone an update on my new best friend, Sheba. I brought her home on Wednesday and her reluctance to be here began from the time she got out of my vehicle, haha. Apparently, she has been in kennel care for such a long time that she is unfamiliar with the outside world almost. So, we began to make the trip up the stairs at my apt complex--and I think she has never seen stairs before, she didn't quite know what to do. So, she made it up the first flight, but wasn't too sure about the second, so I carried her the rest of the way, lol.

We came home and her exploration began! Some of her unique discoveries include: a big fluffy green thing to lounge on (my couch), a really soft "something or other" to wrap up in to keep warm (my mink blanket), and this big box that people talk out of (the TV)...she actually loves to watch TV! The first place she went was to my bed, she jumped right in after her exploration and snoozed for quite some time as I am sure she was mentally exhausted from changing environments. I let her sleep as long as she wanted.

As of Thanksgiving night, her tail has begun to wag consistently, and she is slowly but surely coming out of her shell. I cannot wait to see her full-fledged personality in action. She has also been on 3 long walks already to explore her new territory here and I let her play in the big dog-run area. She is still trying to figure everything out about her new surroundings. And last but not least....she had a big piece of turkey for Thanksgiving, and her first bone immediately thereafter.

I can really tell that she misses all of you and I would like to thank you for treating her so well. It is so obvious that when you look in her eyes, she really does miss all of you and she looks sad. But I promise, her tail wagging will be a thing of the norm once she has adjusted.

Thanks again,
Shane Cantrell
