Fia joins Enzo in loving home!

Hi Fran,

Hope things are going well!  Just wanted to give you an update on Gina.  (she’s now named Fia, we loved the name Gina but we had two good friends named Gina so we figured we should find something different!)

Fia has been doing great!   She and Enzo are getting along very well.  She loves to play with him and they keep each other occupied all day.

She LOVES to eat just about anything we give her and she has been putting on weight like crazy.  You can’t feel her bones when you pet her anymore and her coat is becoming soft, healthy and looks better every day.

I’ve attached a few pictures from the dog park today.  This first one is my favorite.  Definitely two happy dogs.   Feel free to use these on the website or the Southern Hope Facebook page if you ever need some happy tails pictures.

See you at Live After Five this spring!    Ed and Michelle

"Puff" now Jack...

He is too cute. We just adore him. And we named him
Jack.  As you can see he is involved with our everyday life;
Jack at the computer, into my quilting stuff, taking on the
older kitty, napping everywhere after his energetic runnings
around the house.
Thanks for taking such good care of him. We will do the
same. He has visited the vet, got two shots and a pill.
Will take him back in 3 weeks for a booster.

Regards,
The Galloways

Gert Living Large!

Hello Cori and Ally:

Hope this finds you well.  Debra and I wanted to give you all a quick update on Gertie.  She has settled in after two weeks and stole our hearts!  She is a delightful doggie and has become very territorial of the home and protective of both Debra and I.  Of course she is getting spoiled rotten and lots of love, but that's what companions are for.

She is doing well - there were a few accidents at first in the house but she is getting the hang of going outside for potty.  She is doing really well in that respect.  It must be very stressful on a pooch re-locating like this to a new place but she is doing well.  She is, as Debra calls her, a "snuggle bug" but also full of pep and energy and loves to play - I think she is on the young side of two as she loves to play with her toys and to wrestle and "box" with me.

We thank you so much for Gertie - she has brought a lot of love and joy into our home!

Take care and enjoy the photos, we will stop by to visit one Saturday.

Mark

Sherman now Smooth doing his job!

Hi,

Here are photos that I took of Smooth this morning.  I am applying for his ILP as a bearded collie.  I hope he's accepted as one even though his coat is badly damaged.

We are getting ready to compete in Novice B Obedience.  Smooth is quite good.  I am also training him to herd ducks.  He's good at that too.

Mia from the hard life to the good life!

Hi,
I just wanted to to give you guys an update on Mia ( the most adorable beagle ever). It's been about 6 months since I first met her at your shelter in Roswell and she's really made a lot of progress. When I first sat with her in the adoption room she just sat there shaking. It's taken time and a whole lot of patience but, she has transformed into the happiest most loving dog. She lost a bit of weight and is full of mischief and energy. She follows me everywhere I go and pushes Jeff out of the way to greet me when I come home from work. She was pretty terrified of him for the first few months but now she follows him around too and greets him with the same level of enthusiasm. I wanted to thank you for letting me adopt her. She's made a big difference in our lives with her unyielding affection and companionship.

thanks,
Elizabeth

Kirby - 8 years of LOVE!

Hello to everyone there at Southern Hope,

I just wanted you to know that Kirby is still doing extremely well. We adopted him from you about 8 years ago and he has certainly enriched our lives. He is so loving and intelligent and really has enjoyed the good life with us. Here are a few photos we would like to share with you. My husband Michael has never been so in love with a dog.

We wou
ld take in another one however Kirby has proven to be an alpha dog and needs to be the only canine however he does love his cat.

Thank you doing what you do!

Sierra happy at home!

Hi!
We adopted Sierra (formerly Daisey) from you in February - she is SUCH a cutie & the sweetest little girl ever! We LOVE her & she has brought so much laughter to our family with her silly personality.
Now that she is well adjusted at home, we are interested in finalizing our family and adopting a kitten. Can you tell me if Morgan is still available and when we could arrange to meet him?
Thank you!

Tank Update

Dear Southern Hope,

Attached are some of the latest pictures of Tank enjoying his new home!  We can’t believe we have had him for almost a year already!  Tank is growing up fast but still has his puppy personality.  He’s the perfect gentleman around the house and a big couch potato.  He loves running around in the fenced yard chasing birds and squirrels.  Sometimes he just refuses to come inside!  We recently started taking him on runs with us around the neighborhood and he’s really good about running on the leash and looking out for traffic.  We have also taken him to some horse shows and he loves meeting the horses, kids and other dogs at the shows.  He went to the Roswell High School 4th of July celebration this year and surprisingly enjoyed the fireworks show!  He has also taken up swimming this summer and is learning how to swim from his big sister, Dixie, our 10 year old chocolate lab.  He has grown since our last update to about 115 pounds.  He is an amazing watchdog and burglar deterrent – I wish I could send you a recording of his bark through email – it’s amazing!!   He’s a very happy and healthy boy and we love having him around.

Hope all is going well at Southern Hope!  Thanks for all you do!

Sarah in her new home!

Hello Victoria,
Just wanted to give you an update on Sarah. We couldn't have found a better fit for our family.
She is calm when we need her to be and active when it's okay.  She absolutely loves playing fetch with a ball and when that isn't handy she finds a stick. My daughter says frequently "thanks for adopting Sarah." She is a lot of fun and a great addition to our family. She is healthy and happy and loves living in the woods.

Our special boy Gabe in his new home!

Hi :)

I just wanted to let you know that Gabe is adjusting wonderfully.   He is a wonderful dog and so sweet.  He loves his walks and his naps.  Here are some pics and as you can see he has completely made himself at home (even on the couch!).

We will continue to keep you posted and will bring him in for a visit soon!  Thanks again for everything.

Goldy loves her new home!

Hello

My family adopted Lady (now named Goldy) back in October 2009. She is a fabulous doggie and we love her soooooo much.
We just wanted you to know how happy she is and how happy we are now that she is a part of our lives. She goes for walks every day, she gets to play in her fenced in yard and she loves to chase after squirrels. She is also a great "kisser" and my husband gets wet kisses on his nose every day!
Thank you for rescuing her. I hope other doggies and kitties are as lucky as she is.
I wanted you to know that we made a $100.00 donation thru PayPal in honor of her. She thanks you for giving her a chance.
(she was the Golden/Korgi mix who had heartworm - which is all gone by the way)

Regards,

Maggie Update

Hey All,

Just a quick update on Maggie.  As always, she's doing fantastic.  She just completed her obedience course and passed with flying colors.  We're going to start training her to be a therapy dog.  She's got the perfect disposition for it.  We'll keep you posted.

Thanks for all you do!

Bentley, the Newest Member of the Williams Family

We adopted Bentley on February 20 and he has made himself right at home. He loves playing ball in the backyard and laying by the front door watching the world go by with his new friend, Kirby. From the first night he claimed the pillow on the right side of the bed as his own and has slept there every night since. He is now a full fledged family member and is very much loved. Thank you, Southern Hope, for bringing us together.

Mercedes Finally Lands a Great Home!

Mercedes (closest to the camera in back of cart) with her new siblings in her new home. Mercedes had been waiting for the right home for several months and it finally came along! A Standard Poodle home at that. This photo as taken on the 3rd day in her new home.

Fun with Dick and Jane

Sorry this took so long. Its been a busy day. Hope you enjoy these photos. Thanks for showing so much love to Dick and Jane and also, for choosing us as their family.

Rocky & George

Hi Everyone at Southern Hope-
This is a long time coming, but I wanted to give you an update on our two marauders..Rocky and George. We adopted them in September as Liberty and Justice, two adorable kitty brothers. They are a delight and bring such joy (and chaos, racket, and destruction!!!) to our house. No matter how much mischief they get into, they always make up for it with snuggles, purring, and affection. They are truly part of the family and we could not imagine them not being with us. Attached is a picture showing they can be good! George is on the left and Rocky is on the right.
Best Regards - Laura, Mike, Rocky and George

Tank

Dear Southern Hope,

We wanted to write and give you and update on Tank. We noticed that his sister, Sugah, is still listed on your website as “available”.” We thought that by telling everyone about Tank, it might persuade a would-be-adopter to give Sugah a chance!!
Tank has grown since we adopted him 4 months ago and he now weighs about 85 pounds! He is such a wonderful dog and he really is a “tank!” He’s beginning to grow out of puppy hood and has been given many more freedoms around the house as of late. He is completely housebroken and crate trained. He cries by the back door when he needs to go outside. He sleeps all night in his crate and never whines or complains. He loves his big sister, Dixie, and they play constantly. He also loves playing with other dogs, big or small. He just finished his basic obedience training and passed with flying colors! He is also great with little kids. He is an excellent watch dog and has a very loud, deep bark which he is not afraid to use when strangers come by. I would classify Tank as a “power chewer” and we always have a hard, natural bone available for chewing so we have never had trouble with him chewing things he is not supposed to chew. He is a big cuddle-bug and loves curling up on the couch to watch TV. Although he is definitely part Labrador, he is much calmer and more laid back than any lab I have ever been around – but he still loves to play! He loves eating and will stand patiently by the pantry door when he wants to be fed.
I honestly wish I had room in my house for Sugah too, her brother has been an absolute blessing to our little family.
I have attached some recent pictures of Tank, including one of him sleeping with my friend’s 11 week old Jack Russell puppy! Hope you enjoy them!!

Thanks!

Otis

Otis is one of the hundreds of dogs who are saved by Southern Hope's transport program. His new family sent us this update:
Hi! We wanted to update you on Brady (formerly known as Otis). We adopted Brady on October 10th, 2009. On his first day home he ate a winter coat and a wooden chair. But things got better quickly! We just graduated from Manners I class. Brady now walks nicely on his leash, sits when told, and LOVES his people. He is still a theif- stealing mostly stuffed animals.
Brady needs lots of excercise (runs and walks) and loves to go to Doggie Daycare to play with his dog friends. It turns out that Brady isn't a Border Collie mix. We did DNA testing and he's Chow Chow, Dalmation, and Doberman. This explains why he was fired from his job herding/chasing geese at the golf course! He's not a Border Collie at all!
Brady is a great addition to the family. The kids love him and one of the cats is trying to make friends with him!

Snuggles

Dear Southern Hope,

I wanted to write with an update on Snuggles (the cat formerly known as Chip). I adopted him from SHHS in March 2008, after my sweet 18-year old kitty passed away. Snuggles zoomed in and has cheered me up ever since! He rules the apartment from his perch on top of the sofa, and sometimes ambushes my foster kitties from up there. However, he also plays a very sweet paternal role to them, grooming them and letting them snuggle with him once he’s let them know who’s boss. He’s traveled with me on planes and in cars down to see his “grandparents” in Florida, and behaved quite well. I’m so thankful to you all for rescuing Snuggles and bringing him into my life!

Murphy

Just wanted to update you on our adopted puppy. We adopted Murphy from Southern Hope in April. He was one of four Corgi/Terrier brothers (Zeke, Zaire, Zulu, etc.) He is now a little over one year old and very happy and healthy. Our vet says he won’t get bigger, which was a nice surprise. Thanks for saving Murphy for us and we hope his brothers are with families that love them.

Holmes & Watson

Hi, Guys!

Here is a pic of Holmes and Watson(a.k.a. Scotty and Weston) in Great Granny's chair. They are truly precious boys! They have made themselves at home and the girls are taking to them. My little princess (the alpha) had one little tift with Watson over a food crumb on the floor, but other than that things have been great. You would think the way they all lay around and watch t.v. with us that they had been doing it forever.

I love happy endings, don't you? Thanks for all your hard work and dedication. We will take good care of the boys. They are going to see the vet and get a hairstyle this week. I'll try to send you a pic.

Toby & Lexi

Hi -

Finally - a few pictures of Toby and Lexi. They are doing great and are spoiled rotten! We adore them.

Zeke (And His Doggles)

I just wanted to give you an update on Zeke, I know you asked me to send updates so here is the second one.  Zeke is such a good boy, he just turned 9 months and is just over 20 pounds now…he’s growing like a weed! He is having a ball in his back yard, he has lots of neighbor kids that come over daily to play with him, Zeke Ingraham has his own Facebook account if you’d like to become a friend!  He is so spoiled, but he deserves it. He is a very loving dog and has really come into his own…he has more confidence now (though he still puts his ears back at times) and has lots of doggie friends in the neighborhood – his favorites are Spanky, Reilly (both Jack Russells) Bailey (Boxer/Beagle) and Gizmo (Pomeranian). We walk the entire neighborhood 3 times a day (sometimes 4) and get to visit all his buddies numerous times…it’s a rough life let me tell ya! During the day when he’s not playing, he is laying under the chair where my husband Ed works from home…he’s a good protector of us. Everyone thinks he’s a Puggle when they see him…so we went on Puggle.org and it sure looks like he could be one of them…though we’ll never know. We thought that was pretty interesting!

Charlie

Dear Ally,
We wanted to give you an update on Charlie (formally boyfriend). Charlie has adapted very well and is getting along great with his new 3 sisters. He is the most sweetest and adorable boy we have ever met. We are so lucky to have him. The vet said he is healthy but a little overweight, so we are working on that. We are taking him on small walks and put him on a healthy diet and tasty chicken snacks. Over all, he is a happy fellow. He loves to get hugs and kisses all the time. We are all so in love with him. Thank you for all your work. We will keep you updated.

Love,
The Ferguson Family.
